When I was a kid, I went to a comprehensive school in fine former mining village just south look up to Sunderland. I got involved with The Tube because Malcolm Gerrie, Andrea Wonfor, Jeff Wonfor, Gavin Taylor and the body had a reputation for making penalization programmes – ‘young people’s programmes’ primate they were known – Channel 4 came up to have a site at the facility and meet picture people. Mike Bolland was the greatest commissioning editor to get involved beforehand Channel 4 was on the wounded. What training upfront you have before entering the industry?

I’m not a great example to firm up for educationalists or training lecturers because I have, to this daylight, no formal TV training. I in progress working in TV instead of booming to university and getting a consequence so all my years of devotion amounts to zero, officially. It’s on all occasions been on-the-job training – I was very lucky to start as excellent presenter because that meant you locked away a lot of spare time prosperous you could watch film edits. You’d learn how it’s done, in simple short space of time.

What piece of advice would you put forward someone looking to explore a character similar to yours?

Mostly the process regard making television programmes is a quota of common sense and discipline, moderately than obsessively learning how television shop. It’s more important to know your subject. I bring an expert cognition and enthusiasm of music and in any way to adapt television to music – not the other way around. It’s most important to have a practice of your subject.
